Building Community Safety in Tucson!

Just Communities Arizona (JCA) partnered with the City of Tucson for the Reimagining Community Safety Survey to inform the Community Safety, Health and Wellness Program and tackle racial injustice and inequity for communities of color, people who are houseless and other marginalized populations. The City uses our findings to drive progress toward a more equitable justice system by organizing affected communities in Tucson to generate their own evidence of what constitutes safety in their neighborhoods. This extensive community outreach and input are vital for the City of Tucson to better serve its residents.

JCA has worked with co-researchers to collect the opinions and experiences of over 1200 people in Tucson on this project. In alignment with JCA’s values, we have made this data open and available for anyone to review and analyze.

In the Survey Dashboard below, click the icons to see data in more detail. You can use the Show Filters button in the top right corner of Topic pages to filter information by Race, Gender, Education level, Income Range, Age and/or Area of the City.

JCA is writing a report on this data, and setting up Community Conversations throughout Tucson to discuss findings with the communities who so generously shared their experience with us. Our goal is to inform city leaders about the priorities of community safety and where Tucsonans want investments to build community, sustainability and healing.

Stay tuned for upcoming events to join!
